Beth is a writer, illustrator, and archaeologist at Lone
Mountain Archaeological Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She received a Master of Arts degree in Archaeology from the University of Reading in the U.K. where she studied with Dr. Richard Bradley. While in the U.K. she travelled to Wales and Ireland to investigate the connection between artwork and altered states of consciousness at Neolithic passage graves. She continues to investigate neurological bases for rock art and other social behaviours.
Beth's interest in archaeology grew from her love of aromatherapy. While researching for her aromatherapy text, Great Wylde Angelica, Beth’s interest in the relics of ancient medicinal and spiritual practices grew, and she began visiting prehistoric ceremonial sites in the U.K., especially Wales. The result is her first book, Prehistoric Sites of Montgomeryshire, released by Logaston Press in April, 2006. Beth’s interest in the elusive monuments and her tenacity enabled her to conduct challenging field-research, traipsing through bogs and sheepfields with nothing but a Cadbury’s and an ordnance survey map for company.
Following the publication of her book, Beth embarked on a promotional lecture and book-signing tour of Montgomeryshire, Wales. Her lectures were standing-room-only and the book enthusiastically received as this region has not been covered to any extent in the archaeological literature. She was back in the U.K. in September, 2006 as part of the excavation team at Stonehenge under the direction of Dr. Julian Thomas.
